America is a nation of values, founded on an idea that all men and women are created equal. And while we all have our circles, whether they are our family, co-workers or friends, how we treat others outside of our circles reflects our commitment to the values that define us as Americans.

It’s not about what you look like or where you were born that makes you American -it’s how you live your life and what you do that defines you here in this country. We are better as people and as a country, when we welcome our neighbors, care for each other, and help those in need. We are better when we embrace our differences.

Our country is a beacon of freedom and opportunity. And HUF is the southern outpost of Ellis Island. Welcoming newcomers to our country and guiding them on their often difficult, but always hopeful, life-long process of learning what it means to be an American is at the heart of our work. We are their coaches providing the tools and resources to help them on their journey to their American dream.

HUF has been able to serve the community since 1982 because of generous donors and individuals working with foundations and corporations. We are grateful for the ongoing support of these individuals and organizations. They make the American dream possible for everyone.
